Dubai International Airport has once again been ranked the world's busiest airport for international seat capacity in November, according to data from aviation analytics firm OAG. Airlines operating out of Dubai are offering roughly 4.47 million departing international seats this month, equivalent to about 8.94 million seats when both directions of travel are counted.

That puts Dubai roughly 680,000 seats ahead of London Heathrow, which ranks second globally with 3.79 million seats. Rounding out the top ten are Seoul Incheon, Singapore Changi, Amsterdam Schiphol, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Frankfurt.

OAG notes that the figures reflect scheduled seat capacity set by airlines rather than actual passenger numbers travelling through the airport. Dubai's capacity this November is about 16 per cent lower than in November last year, a dip that may partly reflect route adjustments and regional travel conditions over recent months.

When domestic flights are included alongside international ones, Dubai ranks fourth worldwide by total seat capacity, behind Atlanta, Chicago and Tokyo. The figures underline Dubai's continued role as one of the world's key long-haul connecting hubs, linking passengers travelling between Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas through its two main carriers, Emirates and flydubai.
