The UAE Banks Federation has announced a unified digital platform, expected to launch before the end of 2026, that will automate the process of updating customer documents across the country's banking system. The goal is to stop customers from having to resubmit identical documents — such as Emirates ID and passport details — separately to multiple banks every time they are renewed.

Jamal Saleh, Director General of the UAE Banks Federation, described the initiative as built on a "golden source" principle, under which customer information is pulled directly from authoritative government sources rather than requested repeatedly from the customer. He said the main objective is to electronically collect and link customer data so that repetitive processes are reduced whenever documents expire or are renewed.

The platform forms part of a broader push by the Central Bank of the UAE to modernise digital banking services, alongside the development of the Jaywan national payment card scheme and central bank digital currency infrastructure. Details of the plan were discussed at the Seamless Middle East event, where representatives from 37 committees of the UAE Banks Federation took part, with 10 of those committees holding dedicated sessions during the gathering.

Officials said the new platform builds on the rapid growth of the Aani instant payments platform, which now has more than 12.5 million users. The document-sharing system is expected to further accelerate digital transformation across the UAE banking sector by easing the administrative burden on both banks and customers.
