Ethara, the organiser behind the entertainment programme of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, has confirmed that American rock band Kings of Leon will replace Swedish pop star Zara Larsson on this year's concert bill. Larsson, who was announced as a headliner back in February, is no longer able to perform; no reason has been given for her withdrawal.

Under the revised lineup, Kings of Leon will co-headline with Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi on Thursday, December 3, at Etihad Live. The four-night programme, staged alongside this year's Formula 1 race weekend, continues with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Warren on December 4, Imagine Dragons on December 5, and The Chainsmokers with The Script closing out race night on December 6.

The booking marks a symbolic return for Kings of Leon, who performed at the very first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in 2009. Their appearance this time comes just days before the release of the band's new studio album on November 6, a timing that has not gone unnoticed among music commentators in the region.

Beyond the on-track racing, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has built its reputation over the years on its night-time concert series at Etihad Live, drawing a mix of international pop and rock acts each December and turning the race weekend into one of the Gulf's biggest live-entertainment draws. Late lineup changes, like the one affecting Larsson, are not unusual for major music events, but given her popularity across the region, the news of her exit has already generated considerable discussion among fans on social media.
