According to gulfnews.com, on Wednesday evening, Dubai witnessed a unique celestial event. Dozens of residents of the United Arab Emirates gathered at Al Aweer Park to observe the largest and brightest full moon of 2025, known as the Beaver Supermoon. This event was organized under the supervision of the Dubai Astronomy Group and provided a rare opportunity for the public to experience this phenomenon through professional telescopes and expert explanations. The Beaver Supermoon occurs when the full moon is at its closest distance to Earth, making it appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon. The name of this moon is derived from seasonal observations in nature. November is traditionally the time when beavers prepare for winter, and these signs helped Indigenous communities determine the seasons. Participants at this gathering listened to engaging talks about the astronomical significance of the Beaver Supermoon and had the opportunity for a Q&A session with experts. The event was dedicated not only to moon gazing but also to capturing beautiful moments with mobile phones. Khadija Hassan Ahmed, Operations Manager at DAG, spoke about the pleasant weather despite the dust and added that residents enjoyed the experience. At the time of its rise, the moon displayed unique golden and orange hues, gradually turning white in the night sky. This supermoon is the second in a series of three supermoons occurring in 2025. This beautiful event was not only stunning but also evoked feelings of wonder and beauty among the residents of Dubai. For more images and additional information, please refer to the news source.
