Abu Dhabi will host a special summit on September 28-29 marking the 50th anniversary of the Arab Monetary Fund, held under the patronage of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and organised by the UAE Ministry of Finance. the gathering forms the 17th ordinary session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, themed "Fifty Years of Arab Financial Cooperation... Together Towards a More Integrated Arab Financial Future."
Founded in 1976, the Arab Monetary Fund has since provided more than $11 billion in financing to member states and delivered over 400 training programmes to more than 20,000 participants from across the Arab world.
The summit will bring together representatives from the World Bank Group, the OECD, and other regional and international financial institutions. Agenda items include the use of artificial intelligence in fiscal policy, financing sustainable infrastructure, Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) standards, and macroeconomic resilience amid geopolitical disruptions.
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed said the UAE would continue to serve as "a platform for dialogue, a meeting point for Arab ambitions, and a hub for opportunity, prosperity and a brighter future."
The programme also includes a documentary screening and a tribute ceremony honouring the fund's founders, underscoring the milestone nature of this year's gathering held five decades after the institution's establishment.
