Dubai Police's General Department of Correctional and Punitive Institutions, working with the Positive Spirit Council, ran a "Sun Protection" awareness campaign on Tuesday, September 23, reaching 120 outdoor workers across the emirate.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among workers about the health risks of prolonged sun exposure and to help prevent heat stress during the UAE's hottest months. Participants were advised to drink water regularly, take scheduled rest breaks, and use proper protective gear while carrying out their duties outdoors.
Colonel Hamad Rashid Al Marri, who oversaw the programme, said the goal was to increase awareness of correct preventive practices and give workers the tools to protect themselves from heat-related illness. He added that such initiatives form part of Dubai Police's ongoing effort to safeguard the wellbeing of the UAE's outdoor workforce, particularly during the summer season.
At the end of the session, organisers distributed umbrellas and hydration supplies to the participating workers, pairing the awareness message with practical support.
The campaign is part of the UAE's broader seasonal push to protect outdoor labourers, which also includes the midday work ban during peak summer hours and regular field inspections by labour authorities.
