Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has invited people across the Arab world to apply or nominate candidates for the seventh edition of the Arab Hope Makers award, which carries a prize of Dh1 million. Run by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the programme is described as the largest of its kind in the Arab world, aiming to honour individuals and organisations engaged in volunteer, humanitarian and charitable work across the region. Nominations, whether self-submitted or made on behalf of others, can be filed through the initiative's official website. In a statement marking the new edition, Sheikh Mohammed said nurturing hope is itself a triumph for life, and that the hope cultivated today will yield prosperity, peace and safety in people's lives tomorrow. Previous editions of the award have drawn more than 335,000 participants combined, with the sixth edition alone receiving over 15,800 applications. Over the years, the initiative has become one of the Arab world's most prominent platforms for recognising charitable work, drawing growing participation each year from volunteers, non-profit organisations and individuals who have carried out notable humanitarian efforts in their communities.
