To mark World Heart Day on September 29, NMC Healthcare has rolled out a one-day programme of free cardiovascular screenings at locations across the UAE, offering residents blood pressure checks, BMI assessments, cholesterol and blood sugar tests, and specialist consultations where needed.
The screening stations span five emirates. In Abu Dhabi, checks are available at Forsan Central Mall, the NMC Royal Family Medical Centre in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Marina Mall, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall and Khalidiyah Mall. Al Ain Mall hosts the programme in Al Ain, while Dubai Airport Free Zone and Junction Mall serve Dubai residents. In Sharjah, screenings run at Al Shaab Village Mall, Safari Mall and NMC Royal Hospital Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah residents can visit Al Naeem City Centre or Safari Mall.
Dr Zaka Ullah Khan, Group Chief Clinical Officer at NMC Healthcare, said the initiative reflects the group's broader philosophy: "At NMC, prevention is the first step to protection." The group noted that cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of illness and death worldwide, claiming millions of lives every year.
The campaign is part of a wider push by UAE healthcare providers to raise public awareness around heart health and encourage residents to track their vital numbers regularly. Health experts consistently point out that early detection of high blood pressure, poor cholesterol levels and elevated blood sugar can play a decisive role in preventing heart attacks and strokes — making free, walk-in screening days like this one a low-barrier opportunity for UAE residents to check their cardiovascular health at no cost.
