Dubai Retail announced on Tuesday the development of a new shopping destination called Skylight Mall, to be built along Al Khail Road. The 1.3 million square foot project is among the company's largest retail ventures in recent years and is scheduled to open in 2027. Skylight Mall will house more than 360 stores alongside dining, entertainment and everyday service outlets. Its location along Al Khail Road was chosen to serve residents of Jumeirah Village Triangle, Jumeirah Islands and The Springs, communities that have seen significant population growth in recent years. The mall's design draws on contemporary architectural lines and open interior layouts. Once complete, it will become the 58th shopping and lifestyle destination in Dubai Retail's portfolio, as the company continues to expand its retail footprint across the emirate. Property analysts say the growing population in Dubai's western residential clusters has increased demand for neighbourhood malls. Many residents in JVT and The Springs have previously had to travel considerable distances for everyday shopping needs, a gap Skylight Mall is expected to narrow considerably once it opens. Construction remains at an early stage, and further details about anchor tenants and the exact building timeline are expected to be announced in the coming months.
