Dubai Basketball secured its first away victory of the EuroLeague season on Tuesday, defeating Baskonia 93-79 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, in a Round 5 fixture. The result lifted the Emirati club's season record to three wins and two losses.
Filip Petrusev led all Dubai scorers with 17 points, while Kabengele recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Bacon added 15 points and 5 assists, Elie Okobo contributed 14 points and 4 assists, and Diakite chipped in 11 points, rounding out a balanced scoring effort across the roster.
Dubai's discipline on the floor stood out in the box score: the team committed just eight turnovers, a season-low, while also dishing out 20 assists, numbers head coach Xavi Pascual pointed to as evidence of a much-improved second-half performance.
Pascual said after the match that his side started slowly but turned the game around through stronger defence and more efficient offence in the second half, calling the win "very important" for the team following a home defeat earlier in the competition.
The victory arrives at a useful moment for Dubai Basketball as it prepares for a tougher assignment: a Round 6 clash against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on October 15. A strong showing there would help the club build on the momentum generated in Spain and push further up the EuroLeague standings in only its second full season in the competition.
