The UAE's national cricket team lost to the Netherlands by three wickets on Sunday in a Cricket World Cup League Two match at the ICC Academy in Dubai, as searing heat took a toll on players from both sides. The UAE posted 244 in their innings, but the Dutch side chased the target down with three wickets in hand.

UAE captain Rahul Chopra showed signs of heat exhaustion during the match, as multiple players on both teams suffered cramps in the extreme conditions, and briefly left the field for medical treatment. He returned to finish his innings unbeaten on 82. For the Netherlands, Max O'Dowd was the standout performer, scoring a century to steer his side to victory.

The defeat leaves the UAE at the bottom of the table in this round of League Two, meaning the team must now compete in a World Cup Qualifier Play-off in Nepal in December to retain its one-day international (ODI) status. It is a setback that leaves little margin for error heading into that tournament.

The UAE took the field without their former captain, Harpreet Bhatia, who is on an indefinite break from the squad due to his mother's illness in India. The loss comes despite the team playing on home soil in Dubai, where they had hoped conditions and local support would help turn around a difficult campaign; instead, the heat and O'Dowd's century proved decisive in handing the Netherlands the win.
