Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company has entered a partnership with US-based Together AI to jointly explore investment opportunities in artificial intelligence infrastructure and ecosystem development across the UAE. Under the agreement, the two sides will identify projects that support the country's push into AI.

A central part of the deal is Together AI establishing a physical presence in Abu Dhabi. The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2022, provides AI inference and research capabilities, and the new base will bring those services closer to developers building AI applications across the region.

The partnership builds on Mubadala's $100 million participation in Together AI's Series C funding round, announced in July this year. Mubadala manages a portfolio valued at $385 billion across six continents.

Ali Al Mheiri, an executive director at Mubadala, said the collaboration strengthens a critical part of the AI ecosystem and expands access to infrastructure. Vipul Ved Prakash, founder and chief executive of Together AI, said demand for open-source AI is currently outpacing available compute capacity, and described Mubadala as exactly the kind of partner that can help the company scale at speed.

The tie-up aligns with the UAE's National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to position the Emirates as a global leader in the field.
