A new report from travel search engine Skyscanner shows that 92 per cent of UAE-based travellers surveyed plan to holiday abroad as much, if not more, in 2027 compared with this year. The finding is part of Skyscanner's Travel Trends 2027 report, which gathered responses from roughly 28,000 travellers worldwide.

The data shows Turkey leading the list of destinations with the steepest airfare declines, with average ticket prices down 46 per cent year-on-year. It is followed by Shanghai in China, down 44 per cent, Sydney in Australia, down 26 per cent, and Krabi in Thailand, down 24 per cent.

Alongside falling fares, the report also tracked sharp spikes in traveller interest for specific destinations. Van, in eastern Turkey, recorded a striking 2,607 per cent year-on-year increase in search volume, the largest jump in the report. It was followed by Aktau with a 189 per cent rise, Bishkek with 137 per cent, and Da Nang in Vietnam with a 77 per cent increase in searches.

The figures suggest that despite global economic pressures, UAE travellers' appetite for international trips remains strong, with many actively hunting for new and more affordable destinations heading into next year.
