Sharjah Safari, the largest safari park outside Africa, reopened on Monday, September 21, for its fifth season after a summer closure that began in May. Located along the Sharjah-Khorfakkan Road near Al Dhaid, the park spans eight square kilometres across twelve zones modelled on different African landscapes.
The park is home to more than 120 species and around 50,000 animals. Ahead of this season, its breeding and conservation programmes recorded 186 new births in the second quarter of the year alone, including South African giraffes, elephants, lions, oryx, blue wildebeest, impala, nyala and zebra.
Aisha Rashid Deemas, Chairperson of Sharjah's Environment and Protected Areas Authority, said the new season aims to bring visitors closer to the many sides of the wildlife experience, including the work behind animal care, not just observation.
Three ticket tiers are on offer. The Bronze ticket, a walking tour through the Birds of Africa zone and Zanzibar Village, costs AED 40 for adults and AED 15 for children. The Silver ticket, a shared-vehicle tour through several habitats with a stop at Zanzibar Village, costs AED 120 for adults and AED 50 for children. The Gold ticket adds a private guide and a walking safari through the Serengeti habitat, priced at AED 275 for adults and AED 120 for children. Private vehicles for group tours are also available, ranging from AED 1,500 to AED 3,500.
The park is open daily from 8:30am to 6pm. Tickets can be booked online or purchased on site.
