Abu Dhabi's Yas Island is adding a new adrenaline attraction next month: a 50-metre bungee jump at Yas Bay Waterfront that opens to the public on November 1. The attraction is a joint venture between Miral, the master developer behind Yas Island, and Warrior Group, which will run day-to-day operations.

Visitors will have three jump formats to choose from: a solo leap, a tandem leap for two, and a squad leap for groups of four. Weekday pricing starts at 299 dirhams for a solo leap, rising to 350 dirhams on weekends; a tandem leap costs 540 dirhams on weekdays and 630 dirhams on weekends, while a squad leap for four is priced at 1,020 dirhams on weekdays and 1,190 dirhams on weekends. Yas Island annual pass holders get a 20 per cent discount on solo leap tickets.

The minimum age to take part is 16, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Jumpers must weigh between 40 and 105 kilograms. The platform will operate from 1pm to 10pm, with jumps every 15 minutes, Tuesday through Sunday.

The attraction will run across two seasons: the first from November 1 to December 3 this year, and a second season from January 10 to February 28 next year.

Jonathan Brown of Miral said the partnership reinforces Yas Island's standing as a global leisure destination while placing visitor safety at the centre of the experience. The jump adds to a growing list of waterfront attractions at Yas Bay, including restaurants and retail outlets, as part of Abu Dhabi's wider push to diversify its tourism offering and draw more international visitors ahead of the winter season, traditionally the emirate's busiest period for leisure travel.
