Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have announced new restrictions on heavy vehicle and truck movement across several Dubai roads, effective October 1. Under the new rules, trucks will be banned around the clock on Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, all interchanges, and the Airport Tunnel. On Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street, and residential areas including Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah, and Oud Al Muteena, truck movement will be restricted for 16 hours daily, from 6am to 10pm. On urban roads such as Airport Street, Oman Street, and Damascus Street, restrictions will apply during three peak periods: 6:30am-8:30am, 1pm-3pm, and 5:30pm-8pm. Authorities confirmed that Emirates Road will be exempt from the new restrictions. Companies that need to move trucks during banned hours for essential operations must apply through RTA's website via the Right-of-Way (ROW) department for a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads to avoid fines. Alongside the new rules, RTA is expanding its network of truck rest stops. Fourteen of a planned sixteen facilities have already been completed, with 364 new parking spaces added across seven locations, raising total capacity to 1,007 spaces — a 50 percent increase. The move is aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving road safety in Dubai, and truck operators are urged to adjust their schedules to the new hours and routes ahead of the October 1 start date.
