Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, working with Dubai Police, has announced speed limit changes on five roads across the city, effective November 1. The move is part of the wider Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy, aimed at cutting collisions and keeping traffic flowing smoothly as the emirate's population continues to climb.

Three roads will see their limits raised. On Al Mustaqbal Street, between the Sheikh Rashid and Al Meydan interchanges, the limit rises from 60kph to 70kph. Latifa bint Hamdan Street, linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, also moves up from 60kph to 70kph. The biggest jump comes on Al Asayel Street, between Oud Metha and Al Meydan, where the limit climbs from 60kph to 80kph.

Two other roads will see limits lowered. Al Rebat Street, between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, drops from 100kph to 90kph, while Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street, falls from 80kph to 70kph.

Officials say the adjustments follow engineering studies and real traffic-flow data on each stretch, matching posted limits to local conditions such as junction density and pedestrian activity. Drivers have been urged to watch for the new signage once it goes up, so they are not caught off guard by radar enforcement when the changes take effect at the start of November. Authorities frame the recalibration as routine upkeep of the city's growing road network rather than a one-off safety campaign, with further reviews expected on other corridors in the coming months.
