Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) warned motorists on Sunday, October 4, that several major routes across the city would see temporary disruption as Dubai Police staged the second edition of the "Proud of the UAE" cycling race. The 80-kilometre race ran from 6am to 8:30am, organised in cooperation with the UAE Cycling Federation and the Dubai Sports Council. traffic was suspended for between 10 and 30 minutes at a time on Al Ain-Dubai Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Ras Al Khor Road and Al Meydan Road as cyclists passed through each stretch. The authority urged drivers to plan their journeys ahead of time and follow on-site directional signs for a smoother commute.

The race started from Nad Al Sheba Centre and was described by Dubai Police as part of a wider series of sporting and national initiatives marking the UAE's achievements while encouraging healthier lifestyles among residents. A total prize pool of Dh140,000 was shared among the race's top finishers.

Officials said such events are coordinated regularly between Dubai Police and the RTA, with advance notices posted on official social media channels so drivers can choose alternative routes before road closures take effect. The cycling race has become a recurring fixture on Dubai's sporting calendar, drawing competitive and recreational cyclists alike to the emirate's wider roads during the early morning hours when traffic is lighter.
