Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), told the Mohammed Bin Rashid Leadership Forum that if all of Dubai's roads were laid end to end, they would stretch nearly halfway around the globe.

He said Dubai records close to 11 million road trips every day, equivalent to roughly 7,000 trips per minute, and projected that by 2040 the daytime population moving around the city could double from today's six million. RTA projects have so far added about Dh156 billion to Dubai's GDP and generated Dh319 billion in savings through reduced travel time and fuel consumption, underscoring the scale of the emirate's transport investment over the past two decades.</content> <parameter name="slug_base">dubai-road-network-halfway-around-world
