As of October 12, 2025, the European Union will implement the new Entry/Exit System (EES) at Schengen borders. This system will replace the manual passport stamp and will digitally record the entry and exit of travelers by storing biometric information (fingerprints and facial images). ✈️ Who is included? Non-European individuals traveling to the Schengen area for short stays (up to 90 days within any 180-day period) are subject to this system. Upon first entry, border officials will register your fingerprints and facial image along with your passport information. On subsequent trips, only your entry and exit will be digitally recorded, and there will be no need to repeat the biometric registration. 👤 Who is exempt? Citizens of the European Union, permanent residents of the Schengen area, and holders of long-term visas or permanent residency will not be affected by this change. ⚠️ Advice for travelers Allow extra time for crossing borders during your first trip after the system is implemented to avoid potential delays. 🔗 For more information, visit the official European Union website: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees
