Majlis Al Afghani Restaurant sits on Al Maktoum Road in Deira, right beside the Khalidia Palace Hotel, with its entrance opening straight onto the main road. Under the motto "Hospitality is our tradition", it serves authentic Afghan cuisine alongside Asian and European dishes and a fast food selection, and it is open every day from 11 am until 2 am. The interior draws on traditional Afghan homes: cosy booths framed by wooden arches and rattan screens with red upholstered benches give families and small groups some privacy, while a raised carpeted majlis with floor cushions lets guests sit on the floor in the traditional way. A large photograph of the historic citadel of Herat covers one wall, and the main hall with marble-topped tables suits larger gatherings. Qabili pulao, fragrant rice with lamb, carrots and raisins, is the house signature, and kebabs and grills feature prominently on the menu. The restaurant also offers home delivery, with orders taken by phone or WhatsApp.
